I welcome everyone to the 2013 National Rites of Passage Institute (NROPI) Youth & Community Building Conference, a national and international conference- but more so a harvest and anchor of community building minds in a sea of changing times.

This conference represents a timely event in bringing us together to share successes; develop strategies to barriers; and identify best practices in the application of culturally based youth development, family, and community building through a grounded strategy of Rites of Passage.

The NROPI Conference, that we stand collectively no longer satisfied with floating at the will of others, but rather anchored in our collective thoughts toward grounded development, application, and the practice of culturally based youth development, family, and community building services: the anchors and seeds of Rites of Passage.
